I showed up to vote with my voter ID card and was told I needed my photo Id to vote.

This isn’t true.

You can use a photo Id to vote but if you have a voter ID card, student id, utility bill, etc (link in thread) you DO NOT NEED a photo id.
I knew I didn’t, but I stepped away for a second to verify anyway.

Luckily, it was cleared up quickly. Another poll worker had googled it in the meantime as well.

The incident appeared to be an honest mistake and the worker was apologetic.
Be sure to double check the voter id rules where you are and be sure to share that knowledge with other
voters. Check in with someone if you see they are turned away w/o voting. Folks make mistakes, if you speak up about it you may prevent others from being turned away as well.
