It& #39;s funny, I think my dad, who made decisions about what media I was allowed to consume as a kid, went through the following two decades of game narrative discourse in like two days when my brother gave me the original X-Wing and TIE Fighter as gifts
DAD, DAY ONE: Ellie can& #39;t play either game because she& #39;ll be desensitized to killing
DAD, DAY TWO: Ellie can play X-Wing since you& #39;re the good guys in that and the war is just
DAD, DAY THREE: Ellie, you have to also play TIE Fighter so you don& #39;t dehumanize the other side
DAD, DAY TWO: Ellie can play X-Wing since you& #39;re the good guys in that and the war is just
DAD, DAY THREE: Ellie, you have to also play TIE Fighter so you don& #39;t dehumanize the other side
I& #39;m serious, this actually happened
It of course backfired by turning me into an Empire fangirl bc TIE Fighter was just BETTER
(it was also a significant reversal from a couple of years earlier when my uncle asked me if my favorite color was red or blue, I said red without thinking, and he got me a red lightsaber as a present and my dad freaked out, worried I would become evil I guess)
