“Changing the rules of the Senate to allow simple majorities to pass legislation is a form of Trumpism” is not a serious argument. https://www.thedailybeast.com/if-democrats-take-the-senate-our-democracy-is-in-a-new-kind-of-danger">https://www.thedailybeast.com/if-democr...
Do these people seriously believe the 60-vote threshold is some inviolable part of the structure of the Senate?
If so, I have bad news for them about what the Framer’s thought of routine supermajority requirements for all legislation.
Also, the actual result of a gridlocked and sclerotic Senate (and therefore Congress) is the accrual of power in the executive and judicial branches, which is exactly what Trump has taken advantage of.
the Senate itself is bad enough ("on no viable theory of minority rights do people living in sparsely populated states qualify as the sort of minority group deserving special protection"), the Senate + a supermajority requirement for legislation is insane.
