In the book NAUSICAA: WATERCOLOR IMPRESSIONS, Hayao Miyazaki penned commentary for many of the images. Here are a few of my favorites (thread):
"I know I'm the one who drew this, but I don't really like this picture."
"I have no idea when I drew this."
"I don't remember what I drew this for."
"I don't even remember this one."
"I couldn't think of anything to draw, but my editor simply refused to go home."
I guess celebrities really are like us. Anyway, this book is beautiful and insightful, curmudgeoness notwithstanding. I highly recommend it.
