A noncontexualized, illustrated thread was made to call Landon Kirby “problematic”
So in defense of who I believe is one of the least problematic and most overhated characters, I have attempted to make a contextualized, comprehensive, & illustrated thread

While Landon did tell Hope this, he had no idea that Hope had actually remembered everything about his mom and never told him. Can you imagine how hurt you would be to learn that you had meet the mom you had dreamt of your entire life, and she abandoned you again? (Pt 1/2)
And instead of your significant othe, who you loved, to tell you (no shade to Hope, she had reasons), one of your classmates, whom you had never spoken to, told you instead. And this was after your SO had taught you the value of honesty and knew how much your mom meant

Landon went to help Raf, his beloved brother, who was struggling w/ a recent trauma. He did this knowing that everyone at the school was capable of helping save Josie. Again, he assured Hope her plan to save Josie would work, then proceeded to help by binding his life to Lizzie.
So only after learning her bf was in love with the mysterious Hope, Josie traveled to New Orleans & then had to convinced by her mom to restore the memories. Meanwhile, Landon had no idea who Hope was and since Josie didnt exactly share the info, Landon had no way of “helping”
Again, Landon went to help Raf who was struggling w/ trauma, knowing that everyone was capable of saving Josie. He assured Hope that she could save Josie. Helped by binding his life to Lizzie. Then was killed by his own brother and was DEAD both during and after the Dark Josie arc
This is the same guy who was loyal to Josie throughout their entire relationship (seen in 2x06). Despite the fact that he had a connection to Hope (2x04) and would see her every time he died, he never pursued that connection & ignored it because of his relationship w/ Josie
Again, despite the connection he had to Hope, he never pursued/focused on that connection b/c of his relationship w/ Josie (since he would never do that). This line was only after he recovered his memories and realized that Hope & his’ connection was in fact love (so no lie)
Hope is a badass Tribrid who Landon admires w/ all his
https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="❤️" title="Rotes Herz" aria-label="Emoji: Rotes Herz"> Landon is a person who was abandoned as a child, bullied all of his life, always felt unwanted, and always felt powerless. He has every reason to question his self worth, especially when people do it all the time(Pt. 1/2)
(Pt 2/2) Landon had tried to convince Hope every which way (ex. the letter) that he was truly sorry for lying and just wanted to help.He believed Hope was unlike everyone else in his life (which she is)so the fact that she treated him like others had,ofc hurt & offended him badly
Landon literally said this after Raf told him all about how Hope was freaking out b/c she believed fate was telling her that she and Landon’s relationship was doomed. She was heartbroken and Landon (like usual) said the words that instantly reassured her and made her smile
Not that I agree with the words “make you change it back,” but you can tell Landon was just not willing to give up so easily when Hope was pushing him away out of fear. To him, Hope is worth the fight (ofc). Clearly, by her reaction, she understood his intentions as well
I understand Hope’s pain, I do, and so does Landon. But this was Landon speaking after an entire day being berated and reminded by Sebastion that he wasn’t there when Hope was physically incapacitated and also that he wouldn’t have been able to fight, only resurrect. (Pt. 1/2)
(Pt 2/2) He wants to able to fight for Hope and be there for Hope in every way (brain AND brawn). He loves her enough to want to fight in order for them both to be standing at the end. He doesn’t want her to always carry the weight of fighting on her own (like she did before)
Again, I already explained Landon’s POV. Don’t get me wrong, it is completely reasonable for Hope to be hesitant to trust him! but Landon also addresses this in the very next episode where they have a heart to heart that changes everything for the better
I feel like I already went over this one. Landon will always explain where he’s coming from before he ever leaves. Now I’m not saying he’s right in walking away & leaving, but you can’t just ignore the fact that both parties are at fault for their actions (Pt 1/2)
(Pt 2/2) I explained 214, 205, 210. As for 2x06,Landon had justified anger. He shouldn’t have walked away, but the girl he loved had made the decision for him to not tell him who she was and she was never going to(I totally get why she didn’t but this is Lan’s POV) Ofc he was mad
In 2x07,the ONLY reason Landon left the school was because of Raf. Raf made him realize that the school AND Hope & Josie would never be safe as long as he was still there.Despite everything, their safety was more important to him than his feelings (which SimuLan made very clear)
Now as for the entire original thread, the fact that Landon being “problematic” was only addressed through his relationship w/ Hope already reveals the bias that the thread was more about disliking Handon rather than discussing Landon actually being problematic in the entire show
In summary, Landon Kirby is a kind and genuine person. He’s a teenager who makes mistakes and then learns from them. He does whatever he can to help the people that he loves.
-He loves Hope with his entire heart and makes her so happy. She loves him for the person that he is

Please stop demonizing characters because of a ship. Each character is imperfect which means that they share both good and bad qualities. Landon isn’t perfect but he also isn’t the problematic person some of you make him out to be. Don’t let your ship stop you from seeing that
