Under @natashaomalley's guidance, we published a new @promisNIH study in JPOB examining factors associated with worse pain coping (PROMIS PI scores) in peds.

Lots more work needed to evaluate PROMIS in peds ortho but this is a first step! #OrthoTwitter

Importantly, we found: "Poor mobility and worse depressive symptoms are associated with worse pain coping mechanisms. Additionally, Medicaid insurance status, black race and female gender are also associated with worse physical limitations secondary to pain."
Further, being on Medicaid, black, or female does inherently lead to "poor pain coping"; thus, these findings really speak to the need to continue to fight for health equity/access, address biases in care delivery, & tackle issues of structural racism in HC.
We hope readers take away this clear message!
