1. Let's take a look at what the president said about Ghislaine Maxwell in his interview with @jonathanvswan.

Swan asks the president about his comment 11 days ago when he said "I wish her well" in response to a question about Maxwell
2. The president has already shown himself willing to comment on current cases before the Justice Department where he has a lot of control...but this isn't even one where he is publicly associated with the case (Manafort, Stone etc).
3. At most...and I'm truly talking about the limit here...a sitting president should say "she's been accused of horrible crimes but I have confidence in our justice system and in the US Justice Department."

Instead, the president wishes her well and leaves it at that.
4. The president has a long history of falsely accusing people of crimes...including during his time in the White House. He still hasn't acknowledged that he was wrong about the Exonerated Five.

Yet Ghislaine Maxwell gets "I wish her well."
