I'm laughing at some of the responses to my ""make your mark" before 35 because the odds only get tougher after." Touched a nerve with some. Didn't say you should cut your wrist if you didn't. Took me till 46, but let's be honest - some people are never in the running at ANY age.
I used to believe 50 was the mark but that was just me being hopeful and giving myself time. I was fortunate. If you can't get your legs under you while debt and child free it only gets harder later. People spend a lot of time enjoying their youth aka mortgaging their future.
So many people believe college is to have "fun." Maybe, if your family has money and a network to to assist your career. Poor people having fun is tantamount to starving people giving away food. ESCAPISM is rampant in some demographics. Why? Because it's EASY.
Social media fuels this escapism. Who needs to be accomplished when you can simply be assumed to be accomplished by posting photos? Success is more about discipline than age. The youth look for short cuts. The failures never learn they don't exist.
