No matter how I look at it, #IU or Lee Jieun is a person of contradictions, that shouldn’t work.
Yet, it’s remarkable that she just made it work, and work wonderfully..

I’ve always felt for a musician/artists, the beauty in formality of melody would always come first.
#IU breaks that rule. She puts more emphasis on the meaning conveyed, even if it means the melody needs to change.
Yet, it worked.She made it work.

For most, the melody comes first. After all, that’s the 1st thing that registers in the mind.
#IU’s the 1st, who made me want to understand the lyrics & meaning conveyed.
She’s the 1st, who made me feel it’s really in her voice and enunciation, that makes all the difference.

Her personality is one that’s calm & collected, one that doesn’t express her emotions much. A person that would just pass tissues to her crying friend, rather than cry with her.
Yet, when #IU sings, she sings with such emotions, such convictions, as if with her heart laid bare..

She’s awkward, and she’s shy. She enjoys a quiet time sitting back reading a book, or just staying home.
Yet, when #IU is up at the stage, she thrives. She owns the stage, and the crowd with such ease..
That it truly feels like she’s born to be a performer.

#IU is nothing short of a mega-superstar, that’s adored by most, hated by few. Her achievements, undeniable.
Yet, rather than basking in her glory, fame & success, she’s doing more than ever.
Staying more grounded than ever.
Staying true to herself & her roots more than ever.

Physically, #IU’s relatively small frame & small hands give off a feeling of fragility.
Yet, when things go south, when her values and actions were questioned, her leadership & fighting spirit is palpable.
Her high emotional intelligence makes her a ferocious warrior mentally.

She has been through much. Poverty, rejection, bulimia, criticism, scandals,still battling insomnia..
Experienced the cutthroat industry, seen how it breaks some, taken lives of others.
Yet, #IU managed to maintain a part of innocence in her. That kid in her..
That’s remarkable.

Her journey so far is nothing short of extraordinary..
Yet, I am sure we haven’t seen the end of #IU as a singer-songwriter-producer-lyricist, or Lee Jieun as an actress.
She has taught us so much, given so much, but still has so much to offer.
