I.e. "Racism is bad. Black people experience racism is their daily lives" is TRUE! and everyone knows it. Especially the racists.

"Harming children is bad. An uncomfortably high percentage of children get harmed" is TRUE! and everyone knows it. Especially the people doing that.

So... when the news is so basic. So commonly true. ...does Awareness really help? Kind of. But the awareness that WILL HELP is advanced. You would need to talk to AND actually do WORK with people who have been in activism for decades. ...have you?

When someone brings up a BROAD topic as some kind of "Call to Action" you have to ask if the actions HELP or if YOU are being manipulated into harming others. Is the call to action going to save SPECIFIC PEOPLE who exist and you can feed and shelter? No? Probably bullshit.

If you did the ACTIONS of your activism without a single person knowing... did you do anything? So, you can't really raise awareness without people knowing. Have you actually DONE a thing to HELP prevent the problem in the future? Like do your civic duty

Have you chaperyoud kids you know to make sure they're safe in public?
Have you learned the offender map in your area? Do you live near a house your kids shouldn't go to?
The predators in your actual real life... are they still active? Can you get some local accountability?

A place I used to live let sex offenders out of jail EARLY due to "good behavior." About 15 years ago, people I volunteered with got that changed. Full sentence, only. The sentences still aren't longer than 3-5 years... they're working on it. What do your local laws look like?

Sexual violence is baked into our entire system. Chattel slavery ENCOURAGED IT AS AN ECONOMIC SOLUTION. We have so much work to do in order to weed these unfair rules into our laws AND our education system (dress codes instead of accountability for inappropriate behavior.)

Is toppling statues gonna help end racism? Eh... We are still getting killed.

Is defending your favorite character gonna end child abuse? ...you know you need to actually protect real people.

Who in your own community of family, friends, and neighbors needs you? Do you care?

This thread really shouldn't be an upsetting post. All of our problems are at intersections of race, class, & location. Crossing these wires (especially as a Black survivor of many wrongs) comes naturally once you're doing the work. Go save some lives!
