2) Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows will lunch with Senate Republicans at 1 pm et. Then expect discussions with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
3) If there is no agreement or signs of life, expect the Senate later today to begin work on the House-passed coronavirus bill from May. The Senate will strip the measure down to a shell and then begin inserting amendments to renew some unemployment benefits on a temporary basis.
4) These are votes, engineered by Republicans, to put Democrats in a tough spot. The Senate would then record Democrats opposing interim extension plans offered Republicans.

5) But Fox is told that is not a done deal. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) could keep the Senate in session to work on the shell of the coronavirus bill - even though Republicans can’t pass any measure on their own.
6) Moreover, many Republicans outright McConnell’s coronavirus proposals released last week. So, keeping the Senate around would just be to create a contrast with the House.
7) The House is gone until there’s an agreement. McConnell could ask where is the House? But the House approved its own coronavirus bill back in May.
