I want to say some things about the recent George Floyd footage that was released. I try not to get too serious on this account, but this is a very important subject to me that I want to get out there.
Trigger warning for language related to panic, murder, etc.
A thread:
I& #39;m going to point out that first, the video exonerates the officer& #39;s involved in the situation of nothing. They murdered George Floyd. There is no doubt. The officers arrested this man on the suspicion of counterfeiting cash, which was later found not to be true.
It was immediately noticeable that Floyd was experiencing a panic attack, out of fear that the officers would hurt him, which was completely justified as he was arrested at gunpoint, which again is already a red flag as this was a completely non-violent accusation against him.
The police, instead of de-escalating the situation and working to calm Floyd down from his panic, they became more aggressive. More forceful. They kept on with this the entire time. The officers were attempting to push Floyd into their police car as part of the arrest,
..but in his panic, Floyd resisted, as he was not only terrified of the police themselves but also the space he would have to go into, which when in handcuffs feels even smaller than it would before. He repeatedly tells the officers he has claustrophobia, and is instead
..taken out of the car and put on the ground. His neck was kneeled on for 9 minutes, and he was killed by this action.
Now let& #39;s talk about the implications of this and why every part of this arrest matters.
First of all, a nonviolent, unarmed person should never be killed for any reason in an arrest. Ever. The fact that he resisted out of fear means nothing. He should never have had a gun pointed at him. He should not have been forcefully arrested.
He should not have died.
The absolute lack of empathy for another human being coming from the police and from their defenders is mind blowing. The amount of hatred you have to have to simply dismiss this as anything even near justified is incredibly.
You fucking animals are ok with a man dying simply because he was scared. You animals are ok with a man dying simply because he resisted to something completely disgusting, nevermind unlawful.
You absolute degenerates are ok with these officers walking free after what they did. If you still defend them, you have no real regard for human life. But I& #39;m going to outright say the real reason:
You have no regard for black life.
Derek Chauvin and all of the police who were involved deserve to rot in prison. They murdered a man. There& #39;s absolutely no doubt about that.
To end this thread, remember none of this is just about George Floyd. Black lives always matter, whether it be Floyd, Breonna Taylor, or the hundreds of others that have had to face the horrifying racist acts that happen every single god damn day.
