THREAD: The versatile SAKA! After being asked by people to talk about Saka, I give my thoughts and insights on the exciting 18 year old. RT's so more Gooners can see it would mean a lot 😀🔴🔴
I followed his development from his time at youth level. He looked like a player who could be a star in the making. i grew even more confident that he could transition his performances from youth to senior level after seeing him breakthrough last season. What I love about him...
is his attitude and willingness to learn. A complete contrast to Guendouzi. He realises that not many at his age get the opportunity to play for a club like Arsenal.
SEASON OVERVIEW: 38 appearances, 4 goals and 10 assists (14 G/A). For someone at the age of just 18, he has shown great levels of productivity along with a rapid rise in his development. He possesses so many attributes which can be further refined and polished under Arteta
VERSATILITY: One of his biggest traits is his versatile nature. His best position imo is at LW. His exceptional pace creates width, can go past players with ease and has serious final ball quality. His 10 assists provides clear evidence of this.
LB: Willingness to learn! Never complains when played in a position that he probably doesn't prefer. As an 18 year old, he appreciates the fact that he has the opportunity to play for the ARSENAL FIRST TEAM! Pre COVID 19 under Arteta, injuries to Kola and Tierney..
meant that we had no recognised LB. So Saka came in as emergency cover. Although MA implemented a system that minimised Saka's defensive responsibilities, with Xhaka filling in at LCB/LB out of possession, he was still tasked with providing defensive discipline out of possession.
LWB: On a few occasions he's filled in as a LWB, and has shown to provide good levels of performance here as well. Notable game that springs to mind was the 2-2 against Standard Liege, where he provided a goal and assist.
LCM: Against Brighton away, he played at LCM in a 4-3-3. Despite losing the game, he showed promise in this game. Desire and intent to carry the ball from deep, looking to make an impact in the final third. Hit the bar with a beauty on his right. Its clear that MA favoured system
is the 4-3-3. I believe that he has aspects to his game that suit this role. Ball carrier, provides key passes and strong dribbling skills. Obviously, he would not be one of my first choices in this position, but he certainly provides us cover here.
RW: Few occasions he has played in this role. Leicester game was his best performance in this position. Caused them plenty of problems, was direct and the assist to Auba once again provided evidence of his immense quality. Personally, I don't like him in this position..
I feel he drifts away from games in this position and doesn't suit the role of an inside forward. But what he does provide here is the ability to interchange from left to right, which could cause teams problems. But like I said, his best position is LW for me. He's a player who..
is very good at hogging the byline and creating width. His crossing is off serious quality, whether its drilled low and hard or is delivered with a certain trajectory. What I like about MA is how he is managing his game time. Recently, his levels has dropped. This is...
understandable as he's still a young kid, learning his trade. When levels drop, its a clear indication of burning out therefore time out of the starting eleven is required .This is the difference between Emery and MA. Emery would continuously play Guendouzi, regardless
of the fact his performances dropped. Young players need to be nurtured correctly, and Emery was guilty of not providing this. Arteta is the man to take Saka to the next level!
