Thread: Last night I went shopping, (not news worthy) I had been putting it off since the middle of last week but finally decided to head to @asda

Before I went, had to recruit a neighbour to help my housemate get into his room after the door had locked behind him..
We got the door open via climbing through the window using a ladder and i headed to the shop, it was quiet and I whizzed round and headed to self checkout.

As I prepared to start scanning, the tannoy goes and I think, that I just heard a marriage proposal.
I looked at the staff member and ask and she said yes someone has proposed.

I said i'm from the local paper, just happen to be doing my shopping and asked if she minded me running down to speak to the couple. She kindly looks after my shopping (and my handbag) 😳 and rushed down
One of the aspects of journalism I love most is you never know where you are going to find stories. Had I gone earlier or decided to have gone shopping last week, I'd have missed it

And as today marks 6 years since I started as a journalist, it felt a nice anniversary present.
And a very late addition to the thread. Our story was picked up by @asda and wonderful to see many lovely comments! Made my evening. 😁 Spotted by @donnaloubishop
