I read a scripture this morning & it made me reflect deeply... đŸ€”

"Sheshan had no sons, only daughters. He had an Egyptian servant named Jarha, to whom he gave one of his daughters in marriage..."
1 Chronicles 2:34-35.

Let me break this down for better understanding...
A man called Sheshan has no sons, all his children are girls.
He also had servants, one of which was an Egyptian, Jahra.
This man Sheshan decided to give his daughter out in marriage to his Egyptian servant, Jahra.

And I wonder, why?
Did the daughter not have "better" suitors?
Why marry your father's servant?
I imagine her with her friends & colleagues gisting.
I imagine the gist getting to their boyfriends (do ladies gist about anything else? 😎) & Sheshan's daughter tells them she's dating Jahra. Her dad's servant.
What would have been the reaction?
Would they have laughed at her for stooping so "low" to date a servant?
Would they have praised her?

I imagine this scenario playing out in 2020: what would have been the reaction?
My take away from this is, Sheshan must have treated Jahra as a son...
And Jahra must have been an excellent & exemplary servant.
He must have stood out from the pack.
It makes me consider how I treat my subordinates & staff: would I mind any of them marrying either of my daughters? Or do I see them as "below standard" (apparently, Sheshan didn't)?
And conversely, do I think I am excellent & exemplary enough for my boss to allow me marry one of his daughters?
Putting myself in Sheshan's or Jahra's shoes, I realize I need to make some serious changes in my life.
I need to be acceptable as the boss' daughter's husband...
I also need to treat/train my servant/staff to be acceptable as a son in-law.

That is the lesson I learned today.

Now, are you a Christian? Do you read the Bible? Do you learn lessons from it? Or you're just waiting till Sunday to go to church & listen to Pastor preach?
Pastor has not taught you how to get instructions from God yourself through His Word.
All you know about God is what pastor tells you, you don't really have any personal relationship with God, but you say you've been a Christian since 1649!
Haba!
You can do better!
The lockdown should have taught you that your Christianity should not be tied to Church attendance & activities.
If you don't take time to read your Bible & pray, you CAN'T grow. That's why after being a Christian for a decade, the fragrance of Christ is not seen in you...
You're more comfortable in a club than a Poju Oyemade or Sam Adeyemi program.
You're more comfortable watching Big Brother or The Kardashians than watch TD Jakes or Joseph Prince.

I challenge you today: TAKE YOUR CHRISTIANITY SERIOUS!
God is NOT mocked.

Have a nice day...
