helios prologue chapter 1 summary!

the chapter begins with the rookie students entering the school. akira otori (cv: toshiyuki tonayaga) is sneezing, causing will sprout (cv: takashi kondo) to ask if he’s okay and if he needs to take the day off, saying he shouldn’t let the entrance ceremony + ( #helios_spoiler)

interfere with his life and health.

akira tells will to leave him alone, then going on to explain that the first day is important because everyone at school needs to know that he’s a genius. gast adler (cv: satoshi hino) approaches the two and asks if akira really has a cold on the first day of school.

he goes on to ask if it’s an effect of a substance that gave akira heroic abilities, saying that most people only take three days to recover from that vaccine. he also notes that he’s excited to see what akira’s abilities are. ( #helios_spoiler)

will cuts in and asks gast to not speak to akira. gast apologizes and says he’ll leave, but akira intervenes and tells will to watch his mouth. will asks how a punk like gast can be a hero, saying that fighting isn’t heroic and he’s being a bad influence on akira. #helios_spoiler

he asks if gast still hangs out with delinquents. gast states that he doesn’t do that thing anymore, clarifying that the “delinquents” will are talking about are actually more like little brothers that came to celebrate the entrance ceremony. ( #helios_spoiler)

will takes off in a hurry, leaving akira to apologize for his behavior. gast says it happens all the time so akira shouldn’t worry, then going on to tell his companion that they’re going to do their best from now on. akira agrees and returns to will’s side. ( #helios_spoiler)

akira begins lecturing will on how he acts around gast, causing will to say that he’s worried about akira. he asks if gast is going to talk akira into joining a gang again, to which akira replies that he’s changed since then and that he’s growing up at an alarming speed.

will then spots ren kisaragi (cv: haruki ishiya) and comments that he’s relieved that ren woke up on time. he calls ren over, then commenting on his early wake up and noting that he got in at the top of his class in the school tryouts, asking if he’ll give an entrance speech +

like a real rookie representative. akira becomes frustrated and tells will that he makes akira feel bad about himself by saying stuff like that. akira goes on to tell ren that he always has a cold expression, saying that he must take his good grades for granted. #helios_spoiler

akira notes that he’s been like that for years, and ren finally speaks up to tell akira that he looks as dumb as ever. akira starts coughing and sneezing again, and ren becomes annoyed.

akira asks if ren thinks he has some sort of disease, to which ren replies that a cold is +

+ a disease and akira should stay home and stop bothering him. will says that it’s a shame that they argue every time they see each other. akira implies that it’s similar to what will does with gast, to which will states that it’s different because he genuinely hates gast.

he goes on to ask if ren and akira can get along because they’re cousins, and both of them fall silent. will apologizes and says it was too much, but ren stalks off. will tries to go after him, but akira tells him it’s a waste of time. ( #helios_spoiler)

will says that he can’t leave ren alone because he wasn’t like that in the past, and saying that ren is a waste of time makes will sad. ( #helios_spoiler)

before the conversation can continue, oscar bale (cv: takuya satō) approaches the two and tells them to get in their seats since the initiation ceremony is about to begin. will apologizes and starts to leave, but akira stays and begins to ask oscar what his hero rank is.

oscar replies that he’s an AAA (triple a) major hero. will tells akira that this isn’t the time to stand around and chat, and akira replies that he’s gathering information about their rivals. ( #helios_spoiler)

oscar asks what he means, and akira replies that just because oscar is their senior doesn’t mean they can’t be rivals, saying that he wanted to know more about oscar because he’s a strong looking guy. ( #helios_spoiler)
