Hey friends!

We know that there has been a lot going on in the last few weeks and just want to say that your feelings of anger, frustration and concern over school relaunch in Alberta are valid.

Here is a thread of some actionable things you can do & organizations to support!
First off, if you haven't already, take a few minutes to fill out this survey we put together with our friends at @SOSAlberta.

We'll use this data to better advocate for a #SafeSeptember for all.

@SOSAlberta also has this great campaign to #maskUp4SafeSchools

Check out the details below. https://twitter.com/SOSAlberta/status/1289564376194662401
There have also been a number of parent and citizen groups that are taking action for a #SafeSeptember. Check them out below

Also, tomorrow @AdrianaLaGrange & @CMOH_Alberta will be giving an update on the school relaunch "plan" at 9am. Make sure you're aware of their current recommendations and what's happening in other provinces. https://www.alberta.ca/k-to-12-school-re-entry-2020-21-school-year.aspx
And while we want to recognize our friends in other provinces who are holding their governments to account for the limitations in each of these plans we want to be very clear that @jkenney & @AdrianaLaGrange are providing no extra funding, resources or support in their plan.
As it stands, the current Alberta return to school plan is negligent and does not provide the safety measures and resources to ensure the safety of students and staff.

We're looking forward to the announcement tomorrow and working with our friends to advocate for a safe return.
Oh and one last tweet for this thread.

Check out this great interview with Dia DaCosta (one of the professors behind the open letter above) articulate the concerns that parents and education workers have with the current back to school "plan"

I lied.....there are more tweets to come. As we here about opportunities, people, and events to support we'll add to this thread!

@KimHertlein is leading a rally every Friday outside @KayceeMaduYEG's office. Check it out and support! https://twitter.com/KimHertlein/status/1290500047570788352
