let& #39;s start from all the way to the beginning. as so far as we know, his mother is still unknown and we have little to no information to who she is so i& #39;ll just assume that she died giving birth to him (even before he could even walk/talk/make sense of anything) so that& #39;s
the first point that made me sad. but then yet again, a lot of anime characters have lost parents and it& #39;s better because kakashi couldn& #39;t actually take in how big her death was. next point, sakumo. kakashi was 4 or 5 when he found sakumo& #39;s body. so, basically he only got
4 or 5 years of actually having a normal childhood before turning into a child soldier. and that& #39;s not even mentioning the fact that he looked up to sakumo a lot. and then comes sakumo& #39;s death. seeing someone that you idolized and looked up so much dead is such a @!#$*(&@#*#$&(%
feeling. like he doesn& #39;t understand what& #39;s going on. he doesn& #39;t understand that the village is against him and sakumo and he doesn& #39;t realize that there& #39;s people who literally have hostile tendencies against him. why? because hes f i v e.
(this part isn& #39;t confirmed but it& #39;s what i think in my head) he hides his face because he& #39;s scared of people looking down at him because of his age. in the anime, you can clearly see people underestimating him during the gaiden eps (+ ep 483) plus it& #39;s almost like
he doesn& #39;t want people to think that he& #39;s similar to sakumo. he wants people to see him as kakashi hatake and not just sakumo& #39;s son. now, getting into the parts where he& #39;s in the academy.
notice how before sakumo died he would play with the people around him? but after sakumo died he would just kind of. stand there and leave because he needed to take care of himself. he had to find his food and cook for himself at the age of 5-8.
not to mention he spends all of his afternoons and weekends cleaning his huge house that& #39;s only occupied by only him. he still had a habit of saying hello/goodbye when he entered/left the house because he denied the fact that he was alone and needed friends.
he slept in his kitchen. another assumption but i guessed it was because he was alone when he slept in his bedroom. assuming that sakumo woke up him when he slept in his bedroom, he didn& #39;t have sakumo anymore.
literally almost all of the other people that were the same rank as him looked down at him because of his age, causing him to be teamed with people lower leveled than his actual skills.
now this PART!!! i swear to god if i see anyone blaming kakashi for following the rules one more time im going to go INSANE. he only knew that sakumo "broke the rules" and sakumo died because of it OF COURSE he was going to follow the rules after that incident.
then he makes friends. actual friends. no matter how much of a brat he was he still saw them as friends. and then because he thought the rules were important, he lost both of them.
his only guardian left, minato, dies at when kakashi is 14. 14. he& #39;s lost and he doesn& #39;t know what to do because he& #39;s still a teenager. he grew up with little to no guardianship around him and kakashi just joined anbu. he doesnt know whats best for himself.
during the whole time he was in anbu, he was looking for a way to die. his only purpose when he& #39;s in anbu is for serving the village. he saw himself as just another thing for the village to use for the whole time he was in anbu.
he becomes the captain and he kind of becomes more open. just a little. he even talked to itachi about more emotional stuff. but itachi betrays the village. (fuck konoha for that one btw) causing kakashi to push everyone back and hide himself again because he blames himself
for not helping them enough. (bc he didnt know the truth of the defection) kakashi has been in anbu for over a decade and then boom hes just pulled out of that. hes been killing people for almost half of his life and they expect him to become a teacher to work with kids?
like seriously? kakashi cant even take care of himself. and then when team 7 actually passes kakashi sees his team in team 7 and he tries so hard to guide sasuke away from the same path that he went into. but then he fails to do that because of sasuke& #39;s
mental health state + the side effects of the curse mark. a couple years later both sakura and naruto leaves too. then yet again. kakashi is alone for the second time. no doubt he blames himself for sasuke leaving the village and he felt like he couldve done better.
in the end, kakashi was still traumatized. he didn& #39;t get any therapy, he didn& #39;t get any help, and the village expected too much out of him.
and THIS FANDOM. i swear to GOD (not my moots ur all so cool mwah) but u guys are like "kakashi was a bad teacher" NO SHIT HE WAS STILL TRAUMATIZED. HE DIDNT KNOW WHAT TO DO. he was killing people for 12 YEARS AND YOU EXPECT HIM TO DEAL WITH KIDS? JUST LIKE THAT?
and then the pain arc. maybe i& #39;m over thinking this but seeing at how kakashi died, he just.. accepted it so easily. like he wasn& #39;t tense when he died, he wasn& #39;t nervous he wasnt scared he was just. accepting of it. and even tho he might have not died it still broke my heart
knowing that kakashi was ready for death to come his way. and then kakashi being able to talk to sakumo. the fact that kakashi could understand how sakumo felt made me feel like he definitely thought about committing suicide in the past.
he finds out the truth about itachi& #39;s defection. he& #39;s guilty because again, he thinks he couldve helped itachi in the situation. +
and then the war arc. his friend, who was basically his motivation, who he thought was dead for over two decades, turns out to be his enemy and not dead. and then he thinks he& #39;s the cause of the war.
he and obito manages to become friends again and only ending with obito dying hours later. seriously? like what was the reason? after the war kakashi is forced to become hokage, a position which he clearly did not want
because of episodes 200s. he only feels entitled to the job because obito asked him to become hokage, with resulted him in taking the position. and then he spends the rest of his life sitting behind a desk and doing paperwork.
sure, at this point, he& #39;s more open, he has friends now but. no doubt his backstory was one of the most saddest ones in the naruto universe.
anyways sorry i got very defensive over this i love kakashi very much.

ALSO FORGOT TO MENTION HE GOT NO TIME TO MOURN FOR OBITO& #39;S DEATH. THE ANIME REALLY JUST SAID "lol he saw his friend that died twice but itz ok hes retired and he go vacation woop woop :3"
