if i ever do decide to completely disconnect from the roblox community, i want everyone to know that this tweet right here perfectly encapsulates everything i despise about this place
the fact that a youtuber with 2 million subs can just go out and tweet a slur against disabled folks for the sole purpose of offending people, and not only walk away from it virtually unscathed, but get patted on the back by his peers for it, is utterly ludicrous.
this is part of a much bigger problem, which is that there's just zero accountability around here. everyone loves to act like anything remotely resembling criticism is "cancel culture", because they're so against the idea of anyone being offended or hurt by anything.
it's not like this mindset changes when it comes to more severe things, either. blatant homophobia and transphobia are par for the course, even among some "star creators", and being a trans creator myself, perhaps you can see why i find this place a little unwelcoming...
at this point, it feels like you have to be a full-on child groomer to have ANY chance of being shunned from this community, and even then, some will inevitably get away with it. people simply don't have the energy to care about anything anymore, not even roblox themselves.
if none of what i just said applies to you, then great! i'm not referring to you. but i don't think it's wrong of me to at least acknowledge the disturbing trends i've been noticing. it's a big part of why i've been distancing myself, and i needed to blow off some steam.
and before anyone says i'm "overreacting" because it's "just one tweet"; you're missing the point. i'm saying it neatly illustrates a whole slew of issues i have with the community in general; i'm not saying this specific moment is the be all end all. that's about it.
