To all the haters I've met before,

A thread dedicated to explaining some Chinese terms so y'all realise that some ships are not problematic at all... And it's just you that's problematic.
There are some ppl who I've realised don't come from chinese or eastern culture or haven't read the novel and simply come from CQL universe or are too young to understand some things, so I'm going to take the opportunity to address some things that are quite common in Wuxia
or Xianxia worlds that you need to be aware of. Hopefully you'll have a better understanding of some things after reading this thread.
In Chinese culture, some terms of address for family members (such as brother/sister or aunt/uncle) can also be used for friends, neighbours, and even strangers. It's sort of like a more formal way of calling someone 'bro' in real life. It doesn't mean they're related or siblings
With that in mind, let's get on with the relationship between martial siblings. This is the relationship between wwx with jc and jyl. I have done a thread on it before, but wwx was NOT ADOPTED into the jiang family. Screw wikipedia or whatever website says they are.
He was not adopted, this is canon. Mxtx explicitly states that he was simply taken into the Jiang Sect by jfm. Wwx did not take the Jiang surname, he does not refer to jfm or yzy as his parents and he does not call jyl 'sister' like jc,
instead, he calls her 'shijie' which basically translates to martial sister. Wwx is simply a disciple of the Jiang Sect.
In fact being in a relationship is very common between martial siblings. As seen in svsss, Luo Binghe and Nan Yingying were literally married and many chinese novels explore and revolve around the romantic relationships of martial siblings.
Ppl need to understand this. They're not adopted or related by blood.
It's the equivalent to attending school with someone in the modern day world. You're not siblings with your classmates. Wwx and jc are close friends, that's all there is to them. There is not problem with people shipping them, they're not related.
Chengxian is actually a ship that's very widely accepted in the Chinese mdzs fandom, the people that mdzs is written for. Mdzs was not an international project. It was a chinese novel written for a chinese audience, not international.
Ppl are literally giving shit to the ppl that the novel was created for. The fact that we have translators to give international audience an opportunity to read such a brilliant novel is a privilege that some people take for granted and abuse it.
Moving on, age gaps seem to cause some discourse within fandom in ships such as Chengyi. Let's begin by discussing their age gap. I myself don't read Chengyi fics, but it's not like they're such a rare or problematic ship. Ljy is a similar age to lsz, so he is older than jl
by quite a few years. Lsz was around 4/5 at the time of the burial mound siege whereas jl was a few months old. So logically, 13 years forward would mean that lsz is at least 19/20 and ljy is a similar age to him. When wwx d*ed, he was around 22/23 meaning that jc,
who is younger than wwx, is a similar age. Lsz literally referred to wwx and lwj as 'gege' as a child, they're generation isn't even old enough to be referred to as 'uncle'. They only use titles because of their positions.
Anyway, 13 years in the future would mean that jc's around 33/34, meaning they have an age gap of around 15/16 years, which honestly isn't that big for a Wuxia novel
Mxy, the owner of the body that wwx is in is, was in his early 20s as well, so are y'all rly calling your precious Hanguang-jun a pedoph*le as well? In Wuxia and Xianxia novels, age is rly just a number. They are cultivators, it's not a focus of mdzs,
but cultivators seek to became immortals, attaining eternal youth, supernatural powers and incredible levels of strength. Age becomes something that isn't a vital part of their life and the longer they cultivate, the more meaningless it becomes.
Y'all getting pressed by something like this means you're obviously not okay with the ships of Luo Binghe and Shen Qingqiu right? Or even ships like Chu Wanning and Mo ran? They're age gap is also very big but I don't see anyone having a problem with them?
Large age gaps have been around for a long time. They've been present in Wuxia novels since the beginning of time, such as the very famous Chinese classic 'Legend of the condor heroes' or 'The return of the Condor heroes'.
Once again, I'll say that AGE DOES NOT MATTER IN WUXIA AND XIANXIA NOVELS.
In these cultivation worlds, normal doesn't exist, it's all a figment of the author's imagination and ppl are allowed to explore the things that they want.
MDZS is a novel that involves r*pe, grey morality, mass killings and other dark themes, these ships are the least of your problems. By reading such a dark novel, you're already involving yourself in something that is problematic and morally questionable.
If you walk into a fandom that you're unfamiliar with and you have the mentality that everyone should be following the rules of your life, then get tf out. If you think involve yourself in acts of bullying, we don't need toxic ppl like you here.
If you don't ship some couples, get out of there, don't leave shit for people who create content for free. If there are any questions, I will gladly answer them .
nOTE: to make it clear, i didn't write this thread to invalidate the idea of chengxian having a purely platonic relationship. It was to explain that it's okay for people to ship chengxian, bc they're not goddamn brothers.
Another note: this thread was not made to attack any other ships... pls don’t go into other fandoms to attack those mentioned.
I have read all the novels i've mentioned in this thread and i'm a fan of all of them, pls don't get the wrong idea and send me hate.
let me say it one more time. This a fictional novel. The worlds we are exploring are purely FICTIONAL. Ofc we don't advocate these things in real life.
