"Youtubers can just sit around, make one video a month, collect patreon money, then they cash out a six figure check." Ok let's pick apart this heavily paraphrased argument little by little and see what's so fucking wrong about this. (1/?) https://twitter.com/Nicholas_DeOrio/status/1290443333916033040
About making 1 video a month. youtubers (mainly video-essayers/heavily scripted content) spend hundreds of hours scripting, editing, titling, making thumbnail so on and so forurth. Making 2 videos a week is, comparably, less work. (2/?)
But there's still that time editing, titling, making a thumbnail, ect. Saying that there just "sitting on there ass" litterly yeah, but are still putting in the same work of streaming (will get to that later) (3/?)
2nd main point "Collecting patreon money from making 1 vid a month or 2 a week" (again heavily paraphrased) Patreon is a thing anyone can make. Stop implying like u can't make one because you're a streamer. U may not financially need it but others do and- (4/?)
Others need that patreon money to survive because there work isn't promoted heavily by the algorithm. Less promotion from the algorithm means less views means less money for the creator. Plus ur video can be demonetized or copyright claim which means that ur money could- (5/?)
either be utterly demolished because they said the retched fuck work, or going to some mega corporation that was strap for cash and target ur video that u spent months on cuz it had 1 second of music under there licensing company.

Now through out this thread i've spoken through a youtuber pov, now i wanna focus the streamer pov since i foreshadowed it earlier. Streaming in my opinion... is the same amount of work, with many more of a mental tax on you. (7/15)
The average streamer (from what i've seen and experienced) Usually streams about 3-6 hours, others will do shorter or longer based on what they probably feel. Streaming is a huge multitasking job with keeping up with chat, donations, the thing you're doing ect. (8/15)
