Experiencing incarceration is a universally harmful experience. For members of the LGBTQ community, trans folks in particular, that harm is elevated. They are overrepresented in prison populations and are especially at risk for facing violence in these settings.
To support the groups and individuals trying to help members of the LGBTQ community on the inside, we want to take a moment to boost their efforts in this thread.

@FreeThemAll2020 is part of the movement to release people from incarceration in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Their demands were formulated with the idea of protecting the most marginalized members of our communities, including those who are trans or gender nonconforming.
STAR was a mutual aid organization founded by Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera to help marginalized LGBTQ youth and sex workers.
