Pathfinder 2E review video tweet time!

Okay, I’ve booted up the video.

And I’m remembering being irritated at the first impressions.
Yes good, the three action turns is pretty awesome. Please show appreciation for it and the multi attack penalty.

... not all spells are two action though. That feels like lazy reading.
(If this becomes a theme I’m gonna be mad.)
Didn’t mention dedication feats, so again. Lazy reading.
Okay, first wrong thing:
The statement “no more dex damage”.
There is absolutely still dex damage; look at your ranged attacks and your finesse weapons. This is super important for rogues and rangers and saying that it’s been nerfed is super inaccurate.

Read your CRBs, y’all.
Yes, the status effects can be complicated, but that’s why you have the pages that break down your conditions quickly.

Also, using the Invisibility spell as an example and then saying that the book doesn’t describe it is inaccurate.
When you’re Invisible, you are undetected. What it says on the tin.
Your enemies have to actively Seek you, and if you’re hidden, they must roll a flat check to hit you, and you have a bonus to hit them.

Because they can’t see you. Duh.
THE TEML SYSTEM IS A BOON.

And yes, your 7th level PCs SHOULD feel powerful. And if you make it to level 20 (with +37 to checks) you should feel pretty much like a demigod. Because this is fantasy.
Okay, if your monster is flying up to your PC and rolling two crits with the +10 system, you’re... not calculating the multiple attack penalty or you’re using two move actions twice.
If your level five character has a +10 to diplomacy (like Stheno) they still need to roll to succeed.
You should be scaling your skill checks as your PCs level up.
Let me tell you about magic weapons.

Let me tell you about the /level two/ half-orc fighter who was given a /+1 striking greatsword/, meaning on her power attacks she rolled /3d12+4/.

Scale your treasures, friends.
Limiting attack of opportunity means that the three action turns are easier to run around with.
Okay, this exchange for pluses to hit 1) your players need to track their boons. 2)
Roll 15, plus 16 to hit, plus Guidance, plus Bless? That’s 33.
Do math. Or buy a calculator like I did.
ALSO
Hobgoblin Soldier’s AC with raised Shield is 20, 21 when Formation feat is active.

Yes, your 31 crits.

Also, it’s an action to raise your shield. So, as a DM you should be noting what monsters are raising their shields.
Also, if your PC grabbed the enemy - that’s not an attack, so the multi attack penalty does not apply.

Grabbing an enemy is a skill check, not an attack.
If you’re fighting a monster, you don’t need to look up the equipment stats, because Bestiary’s /already have the gear info listed/. It’s on the page!

@NethysMagicMan guide me!
Yes, shield hp and hardness and broken threshold is complicated, but uh, hobgoblins use longswords.
You don’t get a two handed weapon die when you use those. If you did it would have listed it in the weapon traits.
Soooo are you going to tell me that spellcasters in D&D don’t take awhile to read over and pick their spells?

Because pal, you have a whole video about how D&D spellcasters refuse to read their spells and instead ask their DMs to do it.
This ranger attack example is further compounding that he does not understand the three actions rule.

Hunt prey is 1 action. Then twin takedown is 2 actions. If you use Hunt Prey as your first action, you only have to worry about the first multiple attack penalty.
Also, Hunt Prey doesn’t have anything to do with your to hit multiple attack penalty. If you READ YOUR CRB: Hunt Prey gives you a +2 to your Perception to Seek and Track your prey, and you ignore the penalty for making ranged attacks within your second range increment.
Also, yeah, when you trying to condense all three of your actions into a flat roll and add check, it’s going to sound complicated.

Example: my level five fighter rolls a 15 to power attack.

That’s 15 + 9 + 4 + 1
Or I can read my nifty character sheet and go oh, I did half of this math earlier and then wrote it in the nifty axe head which includes my weapon bonus, proficiency, and strength bonus and like an adult I can say:
15 + 14 = 29 to hit.
We’re not reciting the math breakdown, we’re using our tools as intended and adding them up into one bonus to hit in the axe or arrow head. That’s why it’s there.
Pause break because my kitten just gored my leg.
I took 1d4 damage, and I’m a dwarven witch build, I’m fine, don’t worry.
I’m back - we continue!
This twin takedown discussing is too many actions. He’s also talking about using a flurry, but Impossible Flurry is level 18 and is a three action feat.

Also, twin takedown is a flourish, and any other flourishes wouldn’t be able to be used during this turn. What??
This attack matrix is just so... asinine. Most of these numbers are ON YOUR CHARACTER SHEET.

AND YOUR DM IS THE ONE WHO TRACKS THE MONSTERS CONDITIONS.
I can’t even talk about how he keeps ignoring the finesse info.
DEADLY DIE DOESN’T GET ADDED UNLESS YOU CRIT.
I find it really hard to believe that his level five character has a fucking Greater Striking scimitar.

Also this reeks so powerfully of just minmaxing continuously.
Also the “that script took me half a day” - and you still fucked it up!!!

Like, if you’re trying to build the most ridiculously complicated character ever, yes, your character is going to take ten minutes to run a turn.
Also THIS IS WHY YOU DONT THROW 15 ENEMIES AT YOUR GD PCS!!!
YOUR PLAYERS SHOULD TRACK THEIR BOONS.
YOUR DM SHOULD BE TRACKING MONSTER CONDITIONS.
Why aren’t you using your Bestiary?
Why. Aren’t. You. Using. Your. Bestiary?
I need to preface this: @Dicefall_Pod records Gang Goes to Golarion once a month.

I spend about... forty minutes typically prepping for those four-five hour sessions. And ngl, the reason it’s so fast is because I use the tools given to me.
Oh now we’re talking about setting. I have a dog in this fight.
Yeah, APs are canon...? Because... that’s how canon works?
Okay, so this statement that the World Guide means there’s nothing to do... is wrong? There’s so many things to do and there are SEVERAL REMAINING THREATS?
“All the other Runelords are dead!”
WHAT
First of all - let’s ignore that Karzoug was killed in 1E.
Second of all - the Worldwound could still very much reopen?
Third of all - GGtG is literally set during Queen Anastasia’s reign. Just because she’s nice DOESN’T MEAN IRRISEN’S PROBLEMS ARE OVER.
Please sub to our Patreon. I spent so much time researching this country and it’s social problems.
Lost Omens World Guide absolutely lends itself to home brew and has been an INVALUABLE tool for home brew.

Ah yes, New Thassilon which is ruled by the very dead Rune Lady @AskSorshen.
Also it’s perfectly easy to convert 1E to 2E. They gave you a guide.
Also I just. Freelancers and editors and writers at Paizo spend SO MUCH TIME making sure there are options for DMs to build with. And to just make the flat statement that it’s not built for DMs is disingenuous.
So I guess. This is it for my thread.

This video really disappointed me, and I feel like I’ve lost some respect for PuffinForest because he spends this whole video talking like an authority, but if you hold it up to someone who actually knows the system it... falls apart.
