cmon yall
1.

i think this is usually the answer i give when asked this question, although i have a couple others that i think have had a similar impact on my life in different ways. this is the most important album to me as a musician specifically, which is most of who i am as a person
2.

going through the wikipedia article for this album and taking note of every single artist credited by the band as an influence in making it basically got me into every genre that wasn't prog or metalcore. a very formative record for me.
3.

this album (græ) is a magnificent marriage of moses sumney's many talents: songwriter, vocalist, overall artistic visionary, etc. much to think about here regarding the subject matter.
4.

the new green day album is probably worse, but this album made me angrier
5.

i feel like everyone but me and @MicTheSnare slept on big red machine for one reason or another. and i would like to ask: why? this is easily one of the best records justin vernon or aaron dessner have ever been involved with. i still come back to it a fair deal.
6.

i really don't like calling things "overrated", since it seems to be more of a stand-in for saying "i don't like this as much as everyone else therefore they must be wrong", but all that being said,
7.

typically this brand of indie emo doesn't strike me as much to write home about, but these songs are so nifty and fun (and at this point, nostalgic? i miss undergrad, i was in a band and we covered "my smile is extinct" all the time)
8.

YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS (AFRO-CUBAN JAZZ TIME). always a picker-upper.
9.

i have a copy of this album sitting around somewhere with this cover, as well as all the train-themed inserts it comes with including a crushed penny and an etching of a train. the CD version has more music, but this one has all the cool goodies.
10.

2011 was the year i became an internet music denizen. this was one of the many albums that came out that year that shattered my notions of what music could be.
11.

IN NEW YORK I MILLY ROCK

the beat switch on "location" sends me out of my own body
12.

60% of the time i listen to this album, i cry during the end of "the wolves (act i and ii)". 20% of the time it's when the piano overdub comes in on "flume". sometimes i just cry before i even start playing it.
13.

definitely did not like this when it came out. i was too busy stanning death grips and joining the horde of ignorant children saying this was a ripoff of DG's sound. i now appreciate yeezus for what it is, namely: a more accurate portrayal of ye's mental problems than ye.
14.

i suppose any bladee album could go here. i'll just use icedancer since i think that's most people's favorite?
15.

i have this on vinyl. i cherish it.
16.

thank you to @joeyisntasmall1 for bringing this klô pelgag album, notre-dame-des-sept-douleurs, to my attention. it should be on everyone's top 50 list. brilliant piece of francophone baroque pop.
17.

i spent a long time deliberating over whether or not i liked this band (and their two vocalists) as much as i thought, but then i realized they actually rip and are probably one of the best mathcore bands.
18.

my freshman roommate, upon finding out i had never listened to panda bear's person pitch, made a very big deal out of me having not listened to panda bear's person pitch. i still haven't listened to it.
19.

i used to be friends with some people with terrible music taste, which suited them as people who were of similar quality to said music.
20.

fuck tubular bells, all my homies know it's about OMMADAWN
21.

i just listened to this for the first time a few hours ago and i'm still very much not over it
22.

another recent listen, this time from a few days ago. i instantly gravitated to how kooky and eccentric this album is, and how dreamlike it all feels.
23.

god i still remember every single riff on this album too that's the worst part
24.

on the other hand, this is a djent experience that always manages to sound refreshing every time i go back to it, even nearly a decade later.
25.

some of this music is undeniably incredible, but there are other portions of it that i'm struggling to say i whether i actually like or just find too bizzare to even make heads or tails of.
26.

to this day, i haven't found an album that makes me feel more claustrophobic than this. not even car bomb comes close. i hardly ever want to listen to it other than as a test of my own sheer will and intestinal fortitude.
27.

if nobody got me, i know mark hollis (1998) got me. this album's generous and exceptional use of silence makes for good music to sulk to.
28.

i guess i'll go with the last album i listened to while mowing the lawn? that's my cardio.
29.

i always thought this cover looked kinda silly. one of the best rock albums ever though.
30.

i still remain unconvinced by this band, but this cover is an interesting way to convey their ethos.
thank you for the exactly 30 likes. it worked out very well in this thread's favor
