The state of Lousiana has more cases of COVID-19 than when Lousiana Tech first transitioned to online classes in March. This Fall quarter, we are planning to return to campus with limited safety measures and the responsibility of keeping safe, solely on the students and faculty.
Students and faculty have expressed their concern and fears for their safety and health. It’s not if, but when an outbreak will occur when we go back to campus. Tech’s current solution is to use #CultureofCaring to pretend they care about the safety of students.
The truth is that promoting masks and using hashtags is just a sad PR stunt to pretend to students that it is safe to come back to campus. It is evident Tech does not actually care at all.
With the recent news of David Lemaire’s passing, as an org we are completely devastated and are sending love to his family. It is absolutely ridiculous that Tech has not spoken up about this at all. It’s insane to think this will be our normal if we return to campus.
