This is something we thought would be a good idea to plan...

Now, I don't know if the ISU can ACTUALLY put in the necessary planning. We are less than EIGHT WEEKS from Skate America https://twitter.com/olyphil/status/1290401750827048960
Unless they're going to delay the start?

Either way, the amount of precious planning time wasted is incredibly frustrating to watch
This entire meeting schedule is CONFOUNDING to me

The ISU sets a deadline of 8 weeks to cancel an event
But the meeting to decide the fate of the GPs is AFTER the deadline for Skate America

It is PAST TIME for skaters to know what's happening
Skaters need notice to make informed decisions for the safety of themselves, their families, and their coaches

The more of a time crunch, the harder it will be for skaters to weigh their options
This sounds like they're considering CENTRALIZED semi-virtual events

The issue with this is it still requires travel.

Even domestic travel isn't the most simple. And is higher risk for athletes
In countries like Canada and the US, domestic travel often requires flying
Airlines are taking precautions, but it's still a higher risk.

Will athletes have the time they need to weigh their options and make the necessary travel options with precautions on place?
If we're still hosting virtual events in Ottawa, it won't be terrible for skaters in Ontario and Quebec, but skaters elsewhere, like BC will have a tough choice to make.
Do they go at all? If they do go and travel across the country, do they drive and spend precious time in a car? Or do they fly? And save time but spend extra money (those flights aren't cheap) risk a cancelled flight and spend a few solid hours in recycled air
If they do fly, they will be required to do a two week quarantine. This means no training AND they need to get a flight more than two weeks in advance, meaning they have less than 7 weeks to book a flight and get there in time for the Skate Canada dates
If there is ANY hope of making this happen in a way that is fair the exact details need to be released tomorrow, they need to have all the dates and precautions listed clearly and they need to be SURE this is what's happening
Otherwise it will be incredibly unfair to skaters who aren't a drive away from the designated rinks.
Tbh I have a bunch of reservations about these virtual/semi-virtual events, but I can't even begin to think about how they could potentially be circumvented and made fair until they give us details
Apparently reports are now coming in that the GP are going to be going ahead??? https://twitter.com/kyodo_official/status/1290454548474101761?s=20
Messed up the dates in this thread

(time is an illusion)

but the ISU is still past their own self-imposed deadline https://twitter.com/FlutzesCast/status/1290460658954362880?s=20
