I’m very done blaming any individual for anything pandemic related. The US excels at putting the abject failures of our governments on the shoulders of citizens. 300 million people are not capable of taking the individual responsibility of solving a pandemic.
We have a drug addiction epidemic. We blame it on people not getting educated enough. We have a violence epidemic. We arrest our way out of it. We have a pandemic. We shame individuals for not being able to stay home with no money, no ability to socialize, no help from the govt.
I definitely finger wagged at the beginning of this. And like yeah, I wouldn’t go to a huge party rn. But these are easy and useful distractions for a government that has actively sabotauged any effort to stop this.
China, Vietnam, et al aren’t more successful because their populous is miraculously more responsible. It’s cuz their governments provided money, food, shelter, testing and healthcare. Being angry at an Instagram post might be cathartic but it’s not the real problem here!
do I get anxious and sometimes angry when I see people not wearing masks indoors? Sure. But is it really their fault? That there is no direction. No central planning. No education. No money?
Every viral “this person is being dumb” post is a distraction from “our government is murdering people”
To an extent individual Americans themselves are pro-death cult. There is a lot of nihilism in our psyches. But that is also not the fault of individuals! How else are you supposed to feel in a country hell bent on destroying the entire world?
