ISKP media outlet released a 20 min audio where the group spokesman Sultan Aziz Azzam provides details of the group's deadliest attack on the central prison in Nangarhar carried on 2/8. Azzam claims that the attack was according to the promise of the first speech of the new ISKP leader Dr. Shahab al-Muhajir who promised to release the ISKP prisoners. He said al-Muhajir had constituted two brigades for these suicide attacks, which he is supervising. 2/n

Audio provides full details of the attack with the number, nationality, and role of each attacker. There were a total of 11 attackers; 4 Tajiks, 3 Indians, 3 Afghans & 1 Pakistani, divided into four groups. It also provides details of types & quantity of weapons &ammunition. 3/n

Acc to the audio, the attack started at 18:45 of local time.

1st group: 3 attackers were firing on the prison with PK machine guns and RPG from the East Plaza building.

2nd group: A suicide attacker who detonated an explosive-laden vehicle at the front gate of the prison. 4/n

3rd group: 5 attackers who entered the prison after the VBIED explosion, which released the 280 ISKP prisoners with 1500 inmates (the audio figures).

4th group: 2 attackers who fired 270 mortars on the Jalalabad airport from a separate location. 5/n

Azzam warns for more such attacks in the coming days. He resembles the attack with the Abu Gharib prison break in Iraq rather than with those in AfPak of a few years back. He does not mention the Afghan Taliban but indirectly criticizes them for the peace process. 6/n
