Now that we know who’s staying and who’s going, I’ll try a thread on each SEC team and how much I like them (or don’t) in August.

1. Tennessee

They were decent last year and lost one contributor. They add two transfers, stud preps, & Rick Barnes is as good as it gets. I’m in.
2. Kentucky

If Olivier Sarr gets a waiver, I may move them to the top, but until then I’ll say they’re second. It’s a total roster flip. Lots of stud freshmen + grad Davion Mintz. They’ll compete for the SEC crown...again.
3. Florida

Blackshear & Nembhard are gone, but they add two sit-out transfers to go along with the bulk of last year’s rotation.

Keyontae Johnson may be the most underrated “star” in the league.
4. LSU

They get it done with some dudes. Trendon Watford’s return smooths over the loss of Emmitt Williams.

Skylar Mays will be tough to replace, but if they get some consistent perimeter shooting...watch out.
5. Alabama

It’s all there on paper. They could compete for the SEC crown if some things break their way. Quinerly is eligible to go with nearly every contributor from last season.

But with Alabama, I just wanna see it.
6. Arkansas

LOTS of transfers. A good prep class and the return of Isiah Joe.

I wanna see how it all fits together, but the pieces are there.
7. South Carolina

They return nearly everyone off a team that was uneven last year, plus they add Seventh Woods.

I think they can be an NCAA Tournament team and at this point you’re probably noticing the depth of the league.
8. Ole Miss

They lose one of the highest usage players in the country + their primary 3/4 for the last two years.

Their success hinges on transfers.

They’ll definitely be better. I’m just not certain what their ceiling is, yet.
9. Auburn

It feels like a rebuild year. There’s talent but it’s really young.

I’ve seen some models that really don’t like this Auburn team, but I’m done underestimating what Bruce Pearl can do there.

They’ll beat people they shouldn’t.
10. Texas A&M

They played over their head last season with a new coach and lose a couple guys off that team.

I think Savion Flagg is really underrated, but I’m also a little hesitant to expect too much out of them this season.
