If as a Christian, you are about to say something that doesn’t fit the characteristics of Love, don’t do it.

Don’t do it.
Is it Patient?
Do you expect everyone to know everything you know when you know it? Have you taken time to assess situations and understand contexts?

Is it Kind?
Are you thinking about how the person might feel about what you’re about to say? Is there a kinder way to say it?
Is it Envious?
Have you checked to see if what you’re about to say is coming from a place of envy?

Is it boastful?
Are you about to say something that puts another down or hypes you up?
Is it proud?
Are you being condescending? Do you think you’re better than or more important than the person you’re saying it to?

Is it rude?
Are you about to say something rude? Are you disregarding the other person’s feelings?
Is it self seeking?
Are you looking to promote yourself while letting others down? Are you trying to look better than everyone else?

Are you easily angered?
Is anything here going to randomly trigger you to blow up and insult people because they disagree?
Is there malice?
Are you reacting to someone today based on how they treated you before or how you perceive them to be?

Are you happy when the truth prevails or happy when something bad happens to people you are supposed to Love as God has asked you to?
Are you protecting? Are you trusting? Are you hoping for the best in everyone? Are you persevering?

If what you’re about to say, whether it’s to another or a form of broad statement, and it doesn’t fit the characteristics of Love, think about it again.
If you want to be like Jesus, your call is to Love. Fully and unwaveringly. Without judgement and without fail.
Because Love never fails.

I hope you understand.
