Personal, and likely very long post:
In the past 2 months I have known 3 young men to die by suicide.
We have a problem in our society. And it’s a heavy one. We don’t talk about men’s mental health nearly enough.

I can’t help but think about the brothers who will never sit with their families at Sunday Dinner, the Dads who won’t see babies grow, the husbands who won’t see their next anniversary, the sons whose Mama’s will never give them another hug goodbye.
But why is that? Why are men not seeking help at the same rate as women?
@camhfoundation lists stigma, lack of research, focus on physical symptoms rather than mental/emotional, lack of societal recognition of the role of men as fathers and spouses after a break up..

“The “code” governing men’s behaviour is one of the prime barriers preventing men from seeking help...men may feel it’s “weak and unmanly to admit to feelings of despair.”... it’s easier for men to acknowledge physical symptoms, rather than emotional ones...”
So please, please, please check in with the men in your life— Even the ones who look like they have it all together. Ask them how they’re doing. Start the conversation. https://toronto.cmha.ca/mens-mental-health/
