While the world’s fighting a pandemic, Zimbabwe is still fighting for human rights.
It’s 2020, yet Zim locals are still being attacked and muzzled over airing out their opinions and standing up for their rights. The public are deprived the freedom of speech, a basic human right

Human rights activists and anyone who speaks up on the corruption and mismanagement of the country’s resources is either arrested, brutalized or goes missing. The public have been peacefully protesting and following covid-19 regulations yet officials deemed their protests as
threats and have been forcefully removing individuals and arresting them.
In his coming to power, the current Zimbabwean president spoke up against human rights violations but since then abuse cases and right violations have spiked. This has led to many right defenders to fear for their lives as there isn’t a safe space
to speak up.
Jacob Ngarivhume, Hopewell Chin’ono, Tsitsi Dangarembga, Fadzai Mahere - to mention a few individuals who have been unlawfully arrested for displaying anti-governmental opinions.

Just as in the United State and UK, individuals have died at the hand of police brutality. There are abduction and torture cases and ongoing disappearances.
If Black lives matter, then let’s give Zimbabweans the same energy we gave to our borthers and sisters in the Americas and the UK. Our Zimbabwean brothers and sisters need our help, let’s speak up on their behalf till the issue is recognized and resolved.
