Why is everyone convinced that prophet Lut’s wife was punished for accepting homosexuality?
The fact that this belief is so common proves that you people will alter anything including your own religion to go with your baseless cultural and societal norms, homosexuality or not.

Prophet Lut’s wife was simply punished for:
1- Rejecting her husband’s call to Islam which makes her a disbeliever (kafira) before anything else.

2- She betrayed prophet Lut and kept telling her people how he is a crazy man, in addition to that she would spy on him and tell her people about his followers who secretly converted to islam. In other words, she was a “snitch”.

3: Two angels came down to Lut’s house in the form of very handsome men and when Lut’s wife found out she informed her people that her husband was with their company which led to the people surrounding Lut’s house demanding Lut to hand over said men.

4: In conclusion, prophet Lut’s wife was punished for disbelieving and betraying her husband. The verse 66:10 is very clear about this.

And you don’t even have to dig any deeper to find this very basic information. I encourage everyone to actually read the story and get their facts straight.
