little mix songs that stan twt doesn't want you to hear: a thread
making this bc too often stan twt likes to drag lm for songs like bm and sotme when they have so many other meaningful and creative songs that can top your fave's discography (many of which they wrote). also using this to show off their vocals bc why tf not. so here we go!
1. woman's world
— a beautiful song detailing the daily injustices women face due to sexism. it was cowritten by jade, who was inspired by the me too movement. the message is so important and so relevant.
2. strip
— an absolute tune about loving your body. the girls directed the video and created a social media campaign with this song to give charities and activists a platform to speak up about global issues affecting women.
3. secret love song pt II
— a gender neutral lgbtq anthem about hidden love. the girls ALWAYS preface this song by encouraging fans to be themselves. would have had a video celebrating lgbtq couples if syco wasn't a bitch.
4. case closed
— a song that describes the never ending trauma caused by domestic abuse. it tells the story of a gender neutral victim who struggles to find closure. cowritten by the girls for their debut album.
5. joan of arc
— a song about being unapologetically a feminist, being independent, and loving yourself. the girls wrote this thinking about the stigma often attached to calling yourself a feminist. a tune!
6. salute
— no one does female empowerment anthems like little mix wbk! salute celebrates the power of women banding together. MY national anthem btw.
7. lightning
— on to an insanely creative song! lm really put together latin opera, arabian riffs, and trap music to make lightning and made it sound absolutely incredible. tour concept was insane as well.
8. little me
— a beautiful song encouraging young girls to speak up, shout out, and be proud of who they are. the music video features a diverse cast of kids and young women describing their ambitions and emotions.
9. power
— back to the female empowerment anthems. power asserts that women can be in charge and in control. it’s also basically about topping so there's that.
10. woman like me
— the girls described this song to be a celebration of women of every shape and form and the mv focuses on breaking out of stereotypical gender roles. there's some interesting symbolism too i'd check it out!
11. good enough
— a beautiful and heartwrenching ballad about struggling to realize your self worth. it was featured as a track in jesy's documentary about mental health and bullying. the live vocals and harmonization on this one are insane.
12. wasabi
— another very creative song that ms jade got the idea for when watching someone eat sushi. the song is about how lm are always in the mouths of the public and the media and how they really don’t give af.
13. wings
— an uplifting songs that the girls cowrote thinking of their fans for their first single. it reminds their fans to always be positive and to not let anything get you down.
14. change your life
— this song tells a story about a young girl and a young boy and encourages them to pursue their dreams and to ignore criticism. i think this 2012 release was also going to have a lgbtq themed mv. again, syco's a bitch!
15. these four walls
— another heartbreaking ballad that the girls wrote upon hearing the story of a man whose wife passed in the uk. the live performance of this one >>>
this is getting so long but honestly the list is endless. remember to appreciate lm's ability to mix insane vocals and meaningful lyrics to create beautiful and creative music. feel free to add more bc i know there are tons i missed.
also want to add that there can be many interpretations of song lyrics- mine aren't necessarily the correct ones! but i believe what i wrote is the general consensus :) adding this towers instrumental bc the strings are absolutely beautiful.
