After this last chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen, I started thinking more on why Sukuna wants to see Megumi’s improvement so badly & Megumi’s importance to his overall plans/what makes Sukuna want him alive
Sukuna values strength, and this makes him have a respect for unorthodox techniques & people who can impress him. Although this is true, Sukuna still did not spare Jogo’s life just because he was strong.
This means Megumi’s strength probably isn’t the ONLY reason Sukuna wants him alive so insistently. It’s repeatedly brought up/inferred Megumi is the only student he wishes to see no harm come to & when Megumi succeeds, Sukuna even praises him
At the end of Megumi’s fight with Sukuna, he was about to use a move that had Sukuna wide-eyed & extremely surprised, chanting “With this treasure, I summon Eight Handles—.” This move is probably the move Megumi was going to use countless times when he was about to die
We rarely EVER see Sukuna wide-eyed like that, the only other time where I remember Sukuna having a surprised face or a wondering look even close to that was when Yuji put Choso in his dream ability that we still need more information on
Since Sukuna is a former sorcerer & since the sorcerers in Sukuna’s time were at their peak, my best guess is Megumi is using a technique Sukuna probably has seen before that was also held by some strong friend, lover or enemy of his
Sukuna says soon we’ll see something interesting, referring to Megumi’s ability from earlier. Maybe he is thinking of using Megumi to revive him somehow, or maybe he knows someone who has reached megumi’s full potential before and he is expecting to see this “treasure”
