Going back through my old Facebook posts is wild. Like... the *way* I phrased shit was horrid and made me sound evil. But that's just down to me not having the right vocabulary to express myself properly.

Hell, a lot of it was just down to not knowing the distinction between liberals and the left. I complained a lot about "SJWs" only pretending to care about marginalized people. What I meant was quite clearly Democrat liberals.

I complained a lot about the type of vegan that is ableist and classist in their veganism, acting like they are morally superior and that the act of eating an animal is de facto immoral.

Evidently I meant liberal vegans who are only vegan for a sense of superiority, not ethics

Like, obviously eating animals as they are raised in the US is unethical as fuck. Have you seen how they're treated?

But! Going fully vegan without loss in nutrition is VERY EXPENSIVE and takes a LOT of research and effort! Which a lot of people can't do!

Food allergies exist! The primary vegan replacement for proteins is nuts. Nuts are one of the most common DEADLY allergies! It's just not safe to be vegan for many people!

Plus if you truly hold that it is the act of eating an animal that is unethical and not the horrifying way they are treated, then the logical conclusion is that humans are inherently superior to carnivores which is a FUCKING HORRIFYING TAKE

"Eating other animals is immoral" + "some animals can only eat other animals" -> "carnivores are immoral"

I have so much respect for vegans who aren't fucking shitty about it. I really wish I could be right there with you.

But there's also ethical issues with veganism under capitalism, though I must be clear these are issues due to *CAPITALISM*, not veganism

Namely, due to the horribly inefficient way capitalism encourages farmers to raise crops with little regard for the natural environment, countless habitats are destroyed to make room for agricultural fields.

Huge swaths of the Amazon are being cut and burned to make room for more farms. In Oregon a while back, there was a huge salmon die-off in the millions of fish due to an increase in agriculture putting chemical fertilizer into the water cycle.

The increase in agriculture to accommodate a purely vegan diet, BECAUSE of capitalism, also leads to massive animal die-offs. Going vegan in this society does not protect animal life, it just changes how the animals get murdered.

Of course, every leftist vegan I've met knows all this. Every liberal vegan will turn into an asshole, slinging ableist slurs like "psychopath" and demeaning anyone who is in a situation where they literally cannot comply safely.
