An important issue that many vegans are unaware of that I've wanted to highlight for some time: the vile ideology of Hindu-Fascism among Indian vegans. I also want to call out their hypocrisy on the issue of the Hindu love for the holy cow. A thread. 1/x

Hindu-Fascism is about eventually making India a land inhabited only by Hindus. Some Hindu-Fascist vegans on the outward even come across as progressives. Many of them espouse progressive values like women's rights, LGBT rights etc., 2/x

But where they let slip of their bigotry is their vile hatred for Muslims. Here are a few snapshots from an Hindu-fascist vegan account that many of my intersectional vegan mutuals follow, to give you a sense of the depth of their hatred (Bharat = India) 3/x

Here is the same account advocating for Nazi style Nuremberg Laws for Indian Muslims from boycotting Muslim businesses to increased taxes on Muslims and even population control, yes, he went there 4/x

And the hatred is reserved not just for Indian Muslims. Here he's accusing the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan of promoting radical Islam and amplifying the white supremacist Katie Hopkins who's now banned by twitter 5/x

The eery resemblance of the hate rhetoric to Nazi style language is not by accident. RSS the paramilitary wing of the ruling party BJP was modeled after the Sturmabteilung (SA) after its founder visited Nazi Germany . They even share the same brown shirt uniform 6/x

These are not fringe thoughts shared by a vocal minority. This is literature and propaganda formulated and distributed from top party officials in the ruling party. They blame Muslims for everything that is wrong with the country and intend to punish them for it 7/x

One argument that Hindu-Fascist vegans use against Muslims that sounds convincing to animal rights activists is that Muslims eat cows and meat, and many Hindus don't. But a deeper look shows the utter lies and hypocrisy behind the animal rights case for Hindu-Fascism 8/x

All cows slaughtered in India are grown for the purpose of dairy. Unlike in the West, beef is often the cheapest meat available ($4-$5 / kg) because Supply >>> Demand. Muslims in India resort to eating beef as other meats are often expensive. 9/x

This excess supply is driven by the excessive consumption of milk and dairy by a Hindu majority that reveres cow's milk as holy. Indians consume more dairy than the EU, the US, China, Brazil and Russia combined. It also tops the list in terms of per capita consumption 10/x

India is also the number one or two exporter of beef in the world. Yes, India the land where cows are holy is one of the largest exporters of beef in the world, despite none of them being reared for meat. Make that make sense 11/x

Many Hindu-Fascist vegans are well aware of this. But instead of challenging their fellow Hindus, they use veganism is a vehicle for their hatred towards Muslims. Don't let them use voiceless animals as a cover to oppress one of the most ostracized communities 12/x

There is also the element of casteism involved as most vegetarian Hindus are upper-caste Hindus who view lower-caste Hindus who eat meat as "untouchables" because of the color of their skin. That is for another thread, another time. Meanwhile here is what you can do. 13/x

If you're following any Indian vegans make sure if they're a Hindu-Fascist by searching for terms like "Muslim Islam (from: @accountid)" . One thing Hindu-Fascists secretly crave is the approval of the Western man. Deny them that. Challenge them. Register your opposition 14/x

Unfollow & block them. If you see them blaming Muslims for cow slaughter, show them that the reasons cows are killed by the millions in India is because of Hindus and their lust for dairy, not Muslims. Because it really makes a difference. 15/x

Veganism is growing among the Indian Muslim community. Unfortunately not many are active on twitter. I will try to convince them to join twitter and link their ids below. Amplify their voices & create a space for them.

* A correction: India ranks 6th in the world in per capita dairy consumption not at the top. But considering the huge population of 1.35 bn people the overall consumption really adds up
