Dont forget to love yourself today.
I& #39;m seeing an uptrend in people posting about depression and I feel like there are even more lurking and not saying anything about it, especially considering the current climate of things around the world...

Well this thread is for you
As someone who has been fighting depression almost every day for my entire life... who has been in and made it out of EXTREMELY dark places in my life... who has spent years studying psychology and mental illness both in and out of university... here& #39;s some essential knowledge
This journey will NOT be easy. Some of you have no one by your side. Some of you do, but they may not fully understand what you are going through, and thats okay.
The first thing you need to decide is... do you want to get better? Do you want to live a better life, do you want to survive, do you want to make it out of this hell?
Decide this right now.
Decide this right now.
Because if you cant even commit to understanding that this is not how things will always be, and that you have a chance to MOVE FORWARD and live a better life... then there is no hope for you.
Once you& #39;ve made this decision for yourself... and I hope you& #39;ve made the right one... you can now begin to think about how you plan to fight it.
This journey will turn you into the strongest person you& #39;ll ever know. I promise you that.

Love yourself, because the reality is no one else can or will love you like you can.
Thats right, its your job to prioritize your health and well-being over others. You need to get better. That is your #1 priority.

It all starts with waking up in the morning, and no matter how dead inside you feel... finding the strength from within to say "Fuck you, depression".
I& #39;ll share some of the things that have worked for me. Everyone is different, it may not work for everyone. But it helped me.

all drugs not perscribed by a doctor. Weed and alcohol can be a crutch you use to make yourself feel better, but trust me when I say that its a big part of whats keeping you down in the low lows. You want to achieve sober clarity.
2. Excercise - best thing I can recommend to start feeling better and clearer INSTANTLY. >15 minutes of elevated heart rate doing any type of excercise is by far the best way to start your day. For me, its biking. And it quite literally saved my life.
I now mountain and road bike >150km a week and I look forward to it every morning.
3. Meditation - this can be done in a lot of ways and really all its meant to do is allow yourself to slow down and reset your unhealthy thought processes... and give your mind a break from its constant chatter.
Meditation is quite literally like excercising your most important muscle, your brain. I do 3 types of meditations and I& #39;ll probably make a seperate post on this later.
4. Reading - I found clarity through consumption of literature from some of the greater minds throughout history. If you& #39;ve ever had a problem, theres a good fucking chance someone else had that same problem, solved it, then wrote about it.
Do yourself a favor and build upon the failures and experiences of others throughout human history. Find a topic you& #39;d like to learn more about, and spend a few hours reading each week. I promise you wont regret it.
5. Goals - Write. Down. Your. Goals. This is the first step to actually achieving them! Having a clear priority list of what you actually want to achieve in the next 5 years can probably be the most motivating and driving thing in your life.
Lastly, I want to really underline that you should never and I mean NEVER let your happiness depend upon other people. You are the captain of your ship. You decide where that ship goes, no one else. And no one else will give more of a fuck about you than you can.
So what are you waiting for? Go be a winner.
