there are many posts demanding justice for breonna taylor, which is great, except her name is being used for jokes and captions on an entirely unrelated post. i'll include as many examples as i can find but more can be found under the # breonnataylor on instagram

these 4 are examples of a "normal" instagram post but with the caption talking about breonna taylor.

a more popular example of that is lili reinhart who captioned her photo with "now that my side boob has your attention, demand justice for breonna taylor" she has since deleted the post.

how would you feel if a loved one died and was made in to a meme? if they were turned in to a trend? how would you feel if you saw people use your loved ones name for likes, while justice still hasn't been served?

i'm sure everyone making these posts demanding justice for breonna taylor have good intentions, but at the end of the day it's just a really gross way to clout chase. breonna taylor deserves better than this. she deserves justice. she does not deserve to be turned in to a trend

if you've made/reposted a similar post or captioned a photo using breonna taylors name, please reflect on your performative activism and do things that will actually make a difference and give breonna justice (ex. signing a petition, donating, calling state representatives, etc)
