(thread) A year ago today I was adjusting to being back home, after spending a few weeks visiting family in Juarez/El Paso. The trauma of the events that took place last year, targeting Mexicans, is something I'll never recover from. The image of my people, little kids too (cont)
#2 shot and killed because of the color of their skin, is something I'll never get over. For months I cried, and broke down, without warning. I looked over my shoulder, scared everywhere I went. I read stories about the victims, all innocent people... (Cont)
#3 going about their daily lives, until that moment a racist Trump supporter, motivated by Trumps rhetoric, walked into that Walmart, and shot little brown children, girl scouts and soccer players doing fund raisers. Parents trying to provide for their kids (cont)
Elderly, like my grandparents, doing nothing wrong, but shopping that day while brown. I was resistance before, but that day motivated me even more to resist. To force everyone to acknowledge that Trump, and the complicit gop must go. (Cont)
#5 in all the trauma and sadness, we can not forget the victims and the survivors. The scared surviving little girl that asked "is he gonna come back for me?" 😭 El Paso is a beautiful community, and El Paso is strong. Prayers for them please.
