💥 The 8 Stages of a Life-Changing Habit 💥

Do you have a lifestyle change you want to make?

Are you unsure why your habits aren't taking off?

What happens if you take it too far?

🛠️A THREAD 🛠️
#1 DAYDREAMING

This is where 95% of our aspirations die.

"I want to be a movie star!" we tell ourselves.

The thought that often comes right after is "...but"

> I don't have time
> I'm too busy
> I don't live in LA
> I'm too ugly

Bullshit. This guy made it in Hollywood.
#2 INSPIRATION

Welcome to social media!

Inspiration rains from the heavens

You can do it!
Don't let your dreams be dreams!
Hustle 24/7!

Good for a quick dopamine hit.

Makes us feel good, but almost never leads to actual change.
#3 MOTIVATION

Every once in awhile, something happens that acts as a spark plug.

A platitude hits different
You have no money in the bank
You notice yourself getting fat

And you say "No. Fuck this. I'm going to actually DO something to fix this!"

Thinking becomes action.
#4 DISCIPLINE

Now it's time to walk the walk, boss.

Put your money where your mouth is.

If you want to have a snowball's chance in hell to get past this stage, you're going to need

> A goal
> A plan
> A schedule

Stick to the plan, no matter how you FEEL.
#5 HABIT

Do it for 3 months without breaking from your schedule and you've got a habit.

Inspiration or motivation might help boost you, but you're seeing results and can do it without needing to hype yourself up every day.

Things feel different.

Friends and family notice too.
#6 LIFESTYLE

You've done it long enough that it's the thing that other people know you for.

"Oh Jen? Yea she's that accountant that's really good at making cakes. She has instagram and everything for it, you should check her out!"

You don't think about it. You just do it.
#7 OBSESSION

Your lifestyle is now directed AROUND the thing.

You're not the guy who does powerlifting.

You're a powerlifter and everything else comes second.

You miss birthdays to train
You schedule your wedding around a competition.
You live, breathe, and eat powerlifting.
#8 ADDICTION

You're hurting other parts of your life with the level of dedication you have.

You don't want to admit it, but you'd lose your spouse rather than give up.

This could be inspirational to others (David Goggins)

Or shameful (Warcraft addicts)

You need help to quit.
