This is the perfect time to redesign the school system not it’s for social distancing but also what school is and what and how our children are learning.

Teachers should be involved in the redesigning of the school system. Who knows better than them. And teachers from all over. Get all of the teachers of the years in the district to discuss. Each school should be designed based on the community and the way kids learn.

Not just some generic idea of what education is. Geography plays a major role in what kids are interested in and how the learn. Design the schools for the communities that they exist in.

Increase the teachers pay. And give them and take the cuffs off of them and let them do what they do best, teach. And Not force them to focus on kids passing standardized tests.

Take the bars off of the windows. Redesign the classrooms to be more inspiring. The workplace has been redesigned to be more collaborative and innovative while most schools still look like they were designed in the 19th century.

Teachers and students deserve to have a better designed workplace.

Update the fucking books. There is plenty of née literature that kids can learn from. Every generation doesn’t need to feed the fucking great gatsby and Canterbury tales. How can we inspire new ideas if everyone is studying the same shit year after year.

Rewrite the history books. Rethink how math is being used in society. Bring in more art. More technology. Get creative. Teachers have great ideas on what can help their students and they’re often punished or discouraged from doing things in a diff way.

Why is an Apple store more inspiring than a classroom?

My moms been teaching for almost 20 years she has great ideas on how things can be different but often feels defeated when we discuss these things. No one trying to better the youth and working with our future should feel defeated by the system at hand.

No community should be underserved when it comes to schools. That’s just ridiculous.

Use things that interests this generation to teach this generation while introducing them to classics.

Teachers are teaching everything that everyone is doing. Think about that. Everyone learned shit from teachers. Architects had teachers. Those teachers are architects let them design the schools. Chefs had teachers let those teachers reimagine food in school.

Reimagine school. Reimagine what it means to be a student. Empower teachers. Empower students. Design for the community. Rethink lessons. all of the shit. Fin.

I visit schools often (when you could do such a thing) all over the US reading drawing. I teach storytelling at my daughters school from time to time. I work with a lot of kids.

When you go to some of these schools it’s eye opening to how poorly some are designed. I mean shit as little as the lighting in a room is a problem. Dim yellow lights on ceilings barely holding themselves together. I mean c’mon.

I truly believe that the children are the landscapers of our tomorrows and everyone is currently fighting for a better tomorrow. Well the youth will be the ones to change the world. A future president is learning to spell dog somewhere (current president probably is too)
