After a lot of thought into the #MA04 race and some great conversations with many of the candidates, I’ve decided to support @jessemermell because of her consistent record of building coalitions to fight for progresssive change. (1/) https://twitter.com/jessemermell/status/1290259110676459523
As our representative, Jesse would advocate for Medicare For All, expanded reproductive rights, an equitable and science-based COVID-19 recovery, robust federal investments into transportation, housing and infrastructure, and a green economy. (2/)
Jesse knows the importance of universally accessible education, from childcare through to post-secondary education (for those who want it). She would fight for tuition free 2-yr and 4-yr public colleges and universities, community colleges and technical schools. (3/)
But her advocacy for educational rights does not end there. Jesse would seek to end high-stakes testing. She would continue fighting, as she has done before, for an equitable sex-education curriculum. And she hopes to support our educators with higher salaries. (4/)
Jesse knows the importance of combatting systemic racism in all of her policy proposals. She’d reallocate federal funding away from police, toward preventative services. Further, she hopes to reduce the racial wealth gap through housing investments and a $15 min. wage. (5/)
Knowing that gun violence disproportionately impacts BIPOC and that children shouldn’t be scared of a school shooting, Jesse will be a strong advocate for gun safety legislation. I’m confident that sending a life-long advocate to Congress will bring us closer to bold change. (6/)
I’ve loved hearing from all the candidates and their supporters in this race. And whether or not you agree that Jesse would be a great Congresswoman, she has already proven an ability to build consensus among a variety of groups. She’ll be a champion for all of her constituents.
