Don’t really want to dwell on this and understand the class anxiety but that migrant parent mentality of “sacrifice everything and invest every penny into your kids” actually isn’t good and leads to a lot of extremely unnecessary financial decisions in my opinion

I personally think if your parents/family are struggling and not living comfortably but supposedly putting away money so you can have a deposit for a mortgage thats actually unnecessary, inadvisable and shouldn’t be glorified

Migrant parents honestly need to spend far more money on looking after themselves. My dad ran himself into the ground working multiple jobs til the day he died rather than looking after himself just so we had extra money for whatever. I’d rather still have my dad around, tbh!

I remember when I worked for a tuition centre actually seeing these class anxious migrant parents shelling out grands they didn’t have for extremely expensive tuition so their kids could “get ahead” which tbh would’ve just been better spent on a holiday for their well-being.
