"Woman" means what it has always meant. When women couldn't vote or own property, when their husbands could legally rape them, there was no mystery.

When we marry off, cut the clitoris and labia of a child force them to give birth against their will, we know what a woman is.

When we need a surrogate or egg donor, when we don't hire someone or we pay them less because they might become a mother, we know what a woman is.

When men call strangers "sl*t" and "wh*re" and ask them to suck their d*cks, they know what a woman is.

When violence is not taken seriously by the police and a crime is not prosecuted, we know the victim is a woman.

When ppl are asked to be modest and cover their sinful body, or when their body is exposed for men's lust, we know this body is a woman's body.

When society discriminates, hurts, mutilates, insults, silences and exploit, we know what a woman is.

But when men want to be us, colonise our hard fought for spaces and rights, suddenly it's a big mystery, an unknown.

Yet, they know full well from whom they want capitulation, silence and submission. Patriarchy always finds a way to know who is a woman.
