While we're deliberating on the unfortunate news of ShopRite closing down shop (I honestly do not blame them, the economic climate in Nigeria is harsh), let's not forget other factors that also contributed to their decision.

Unreliable Human resource leading to internal THEFT.
Many big manufacturing firms in Nigeria have complained of the high level embezzlement and theft from their Nigerian workers.

- Dangote (Ibeju and Salt ikosi, Oregun)
- ShopRite (A sales girl smuggled in a POS, and many other crimes that don't reach mainstream media)
And many
Other establishments.

It's no new story that many Nigerians see an employment opportunity as an avenue to "Cash out". A farmhand once drained my Elder bros fishpond, took the Big fishes, left others to die and balled.

Integrity, commitment and smart work isn't in bogie anymore.
I've often blamed the inability of the average Nigerian to remain loyal to his enabler on the high level poverty and lack of basic amenities in the economy, but I've learned otherwise.

Values

Principles

Responsibility to one's self and neighbors, among many others are lacking.
One wonders, what exactly are the citizens picking from their Pastors and Sheik's?!?!

Nigeria is heavily ill. Pay close enough attention and you will see it's effects on the masses; their addictions, interests, vices and drivers

Look at who they call their Mentors and idols too
If you're hustling daily to make bread, legally and in line with good principles, and you think you're not making progress, it has nothing to do with you not doing illegal things like others, it might just be your approach.

Restrategize, work smarter, cut out clutter and push
Nigeria I hope, will get it right someday. However, I'm not waiting for Nigeria to do me, I'm doing me, so I can also help Nigeria.

In all, may God bless the works of our hands and see us through each day safely.

Shalom
