A lot of the twitter brahmanas who wax eloquent about the virtue of caste based occupations remind of the reasons local brahamanas are hated by other castes in Bundelkhand.
Had a conversation about this in detail with a local SC leader and a Baghel leader (this guy is a Modi bhakt during LS but bids out the community votes during assembly election)
My Q was simple - why do you prefer thakkars over brahmanas during election. He gave a rather short but very good answer to my question.
Some context - local castes, even within the RSS - BJP ecosystem prefer do deal with and respect the Marathi Brahmanas (even the Bengali ones towards Panna and Satna) located in this area over local DMT brahmanas
Coming back to the SC leader, his answer was - Ye thakkar hame peethe hey parantu pyar bhi karte hey. Jab zaroorat hey, hame madat bhi karte hey. Pandat sirf gaali dete hey aur khud ko shrest bolte hey.
That one simple comment informed my understanding of the entire region. Also explained why a lot of local thakkar and OBC leaders gave me additional respect just because I was a south Indian brahmana.
