the problem I have with kpop, cultural appropriation and blackpink, other than the obvious, is the way fans use it in fan wars and use it to deflect when their own idols have done something problematic.

cultural appropriation is never okay, I will never defend blackpink or the company over them doing something problematic that needs to be called out for,, but what I can’t stand is when people bring it up in order to make their artist look better and use it as some sort of weapon

cultural appropriation is a serious issue and if you’re only going to talk about in order to bring your faves up and make them look better, you are part of the problem as to why fans already don’t take it seriously, you’re not even addressing the real issue.

and the thing about bringing it up when ur own faves do something wrong, stop saying that ‘you can’t talk, you stan blackpink’ or ‘your faves did it too’, you’re deflecting that YOUR FAVE also did cultural appropriation, you’re not addressing the issue, you’re shifting the blame

blackpink have done cultural appropriation, is it okay? no. Should we defend them and make excuses? no. Should we educate them? absolutely. stop trying to bring up someone else’s problematic past if you’re only going to use it to fuel fan wars.
