I am going to unfollow most of the Pakistani liberal/leftist Twitterati for tweeting little more than constant abject narcissism. THIS is not what we needed in these times. PLEASE! We needed you to use your clout to offer something of value, and then pause when you are exhausted.
Instead, we are inviting into abysses of constant navel-gazing. I was in fact on Twitter since 2010ish, deleted the first account, I got tired of the political bullying, hogwash, drama, joking and trivialization, of the entire clown circus. Clout is manufactured by attaching
oneself to random do-good look-good causes floating in the river of news and social outpour.

I was guilty of the same in 2007 when I abandoned the tracks of my blogging to jump on the #ChiefJusticeVSMusharraf bandwagon, but thank God I retreated soon. Still, it was sad.
Now I need to pan this out a little bit, because there are a few things getting mixed up. Let's deconstruct:

1. Stop or at least control the #narcissism. Your moods, foods, inside jokes and brain-worms form a valid subculture, but soon enough you enter the territory of hogwash.
2. Sidelining or de-tracking issues of vital importance through petulance, joking, meme'ing and trolling, and inside-jokes and frat boy claps and elitist clubs.... only goes as far. SPEND your education on teaching the untaught.

3. It's tricky to say when and how much to be
involved in the political discourse as an ordinary citizen. I think the decent thing to do in our times is to have the patience to be the Common Person.
4. Being a common person may be the most complex task there is, for you manage what I call "a portfolio of concerns".
