the human rights issue in zimbabwe, a thread:
Zimbabwe is going through a massive humans rights issue and many are unable to express freedom of speech. People are out on the streets protesting for their rights, health care, food and jobs. Unfortunately, +7 people have already died due to police brutality.
The Zimbabwean government has turned the country into an army state, innocent citizens are being tortured and women are being sexually harrased. Activist and journalists have been arrested or sexually harrased over the past few months for speaking up against or reporting-
corruption and inefficiency. In August 2018 and January 2019 soldiers and police have shot and killed civilians in cold blood. No one has been held accountable for the murders. Zimbabweans are suffering because of failed leaderships, corruption and bad governance.
60% of the population is food insecure. Collapse of public health care with nurses on strike because of a lack of PPE, and unlivable wages. Fuel prices are crazy and the prices of everything has gone up but wage amounts stay the same. The annual inflation rate is 750% and rising-
but since people aren't allowed to report on inflation we can't be sure of the actual amount. On July 31 2020 there was 18 arrest, 19 abductions/assaults following peaceful, socially distanced protest against corruption.
